THE BIZARRE-BECUE …

This idea came from our Winter food on the Beach post ….

Many years ago we made this rather beautiful barbeque, for a show in Henley-on-Thames, Oxon, it has since followed us about on our house moves, being used not only as a barbeque but also it has been a centre piece at a Halloween party based on the Harry Potter book ‘Goblet of Fire’ where the children had to write their names on a piece of parchment in green ink & throw it into the fire to enter a competition to get into the chamber of sweets! This was a very complicated party where we employed someone to dress up in a Halloween costume & chase the children around the wood area of the garden, whilst they were trying to find lighted wands that were hidden in the woods, to be honest the children were absolutely terrified - which of course made the party a huge success! We have also used the Bizarre-Becue in the chimney of one of our properties until the wood burning stove was installed. Since then it has been sitting outside in the cold for a years or more, getting more sorry for itself - I feel inspired after my party on the beach in Newcastle & feel it is time to revive this old beast into a Fire-pit / Barbeque / Smoker, there really is something about sitting outside in all weathers & of course cooking alfresco! It might take me a bit of time, as I need to get a different door front made for it & that means I need my husband for the exact design plans - I mean it is all in my head, but he is the specialist in making the plans for the forge to work from. He is at the moment very kindly drawing up plans for some massive double height, triple doored wardrobes on another project! To be honest he did not look that enthusiastic when I told him of my plans for the newest project - The Bizarre-Becue! - I will keep you briefed and post when I have finished! - On both projects!

Here it is next time you see the Bizarre-Becue it will be re-splendid! - I hope!
